Sedation Dentistry

We understand going to the dentist can be a scary experience from some, especially kids. But it does not have to be. Here, at Sunny Smiles, we want your child to have a positive and stress-free experience. That is why we offer different sedation options. There options help reduce you child’s fear and anxiety, all which are done in a safe and friendly environment.

Nitrous Oxide

Nitrous oxide/oxygen, also known as happy air or laughing gas, is a safe and effective technique used to help manage dental pain and anxiety. It is easily titrated and wears off quickly. It is delivered via a mask this is placed over your child’s nose to help them relax and be more receptive to treatment.

IV Sedation

IV sedation is administered with the help of a pediatric anesthesiologist from PDAA. When treatment is extensive or difficult to complete, or because of the child’s age or development, Dr. Vales may recommend completing all treatment under IV sedation here at our office in a safe and controlled environment. In certain cases where a child’s medical condition is of concern, Dr. Vales may recommend completing all treatment under general anesthesia and refer you to the appropriate facility.
